Ann Peacey (1840-1884)

In 1841, Jane was living with her parents, William (a labourer) and Susanna. There is no record of Ann’s baptism.

In 1851, the family, including Ann’s younger sister Jane, were living on Uley Road in Dursley. Ten years later, the widowed William was working as a shepherd and living in Nibley, with his two children Jane and Francis. Ann was working as a servant in a large hotel in Broad Street, Bristol.

In 1863, aged 23, she married Edward Mitchell, a groom, in Monmouth. Her father’s occupation had been promoted to bailiff for the occasion. The couple had eight children. In 1871, the family, including Ann’s mother and sister, were running the Royal Tap Hotel in Ross. In 1881, they were still there. Edward died in 1883 in The Pump House in Llandidrod Wells, aged 50. Ann died a year later, aged only 44.
