Ann Smith (1841-1870)

In the 1841, Anne didn’t even have a name. She was only two days old, and was the eldest child of her parents, John and Eliza Smith. They lived on Nibley Green, but are not mentioned on the Tithe Terrier, in 1847, so I can’t locate where they lived precisely.

Anne was baptised at St Martins in July 1841. John was a labourer. In 1851, four more siblings had joined the family. Two more children had been born in 1861, and the family were living in Picks Mill, in Alkington. Anne was still living with her parents, and employed as a farm servant.

She died in 1870, aged 28, at was buried at St Martins.
