Eliza (1833-

Charlotte (

In 1841 Charlotte and Eliza were living with their parents, Thomas and Sophia, in Pitcourt. Eliza was baptised at the Tabernacle in the village, but there is no record of her sister’s baptism.

Thomas, an agricultural labourer, died in 1844, of paralysis. A year later, Sophia married again. Her new husband was Charles Summers, a labourer. In the 1851 Census, the couple are living in Nibley with Charles’ father and their daughter Emma, aged 3. Eliza and Charlotte were working as live-in servants in different households in Berkeley.

Sophia died, aged 50, and was buried in Nibley churchyard.

In ’61 Eliza was working as a general servant in Red Lion Square, London. Ten years later, she was living and working at the Fleece Tavern Lambeth. She died at the age of 38, and was buried in Tower Hamlets Cemetery.
