Fanny (baptised Frances) was the daughter of Joseph and Johannah (nee Bird). In ’41, she was living with Charles Povey, aged 75, who appears to have been no relation to her. Also in the household was David Cole, aged 15.
Her mother had a complicated life. At the age of 22, she married Thomas Philpott. They had 2 sons, James and David but, three months after David’s birth, Thomas died.
When she was 29, she married Thomas Cole. They had two daughters, Jane and Fanny, but Thomas died just before Fanny’s birth, when Johanna was 32. Jane died a year later.
Johannah gave birth to a son, Henry, in 1842.
When she was 47, she married George Owen.
Fanny died 2 years later, at the age of 17.
Johannah died at the age of 71.
