Thomas (1839-1913)
George (1837-1903)
In 1841, Thomas and George were living with their parents Joseph, a labourer, and Eliza, in the Breakheart Hill area of the parish. George had been baptised in St Martins, in 1837, shortly after his parent’s marriage. I can’t find a baptism for Thomas.
In 1851, Eliza, a dressmaker, was living with four of her children in Millend, and her sister Harriet and her illegitimate daughter. George was living at the Carpenters Arms, Dursley and working as a millwright’s labourer for his uncle Thomas. I can’t find a record for Joseph.
In 1861, Joseph (now a fitter at the waggon works), Eliza, and their six children (including Thomas, working as a fitter) are living on Stroud Road in Gloucester. Ten years later, the family, with only three children, were still living on the Stroud Road. In ’81 they had moved to Russell Place. In 1891, the widowed Eliza was living in Hereford with her daughter’s family.

Returning to George, in 1860 he married, and was living with his wife and daughter in Cheltenham in 1861, working as a boilermaker. his wife Eliza was working as a dressmaker. In 1871, they were living with their four children in Mina Place, Gloucester. In 1881, the family had moved to Tamworth.
There is no sign of the family in the 1891 Census but, in 1901, the family are living in Alfred Street, Gloucester. George died in 1906, aged 66.

Back to Thomas, in December 1863, aged 22, he married Hannah Vaughan. In 1871 they were living in Phillip St, Gloucester, with their 2 children. Eventually they were to have two daughters and a son. Thomas is recorded as being a fitter. In 1901, they had moved to 107 Bristol Road, Gloucester, where the widowed Thomas is living in 1911.
Thomas died in 1913, aged 72.
